I think this chapter tried to convey that we all see things differently, because we are all wearing the different 'red tinted glasses'. Although what comes into our eyes are all the same, when we wear our own red-tinted glasses, we have different interpretations of what we see through our eyes. Maybe some of us have really similar perceptions, but it may not be exactly the same because we are have individual aspects on certain things. I think the way we interpret things depend on how we were raised. For example, some religions respect certain types of animals and do not allow them to be slaughtered. However, other athiests who have no particular views on animals being killed for food are used to eating them since they were young.
It also seems that the red tinted glasses we wear prohibits us from the reality. Although we do see some of the things through this glasses (shades of red), it is possible that we are not seeing everything that is out there. But from what we are allowed to see, we see them and interpret them in our own ways.
I thought that the chapter was trying to tell its readers that we are all different - and we all have different perceptions and ideas about them. But it is important to appreciate each other's views on certain things, and our own individualisms.
