Assignment 2

I believe the extended metaphor, "red-tinted glasses"in chapter 25 is to say that peoples perceptions and interpretations. I think it displays that people only see one way... being that it is their own way. This can be caused by the way of upbringing, the social influences in different cultures and values, but also from our own reasoning and experience.

I think this metaphor is a empiricist view because i believe that the way you view the world comes from someone it may be your parents or an idol... whoever. the quote "dont believe everything you see" implies that most people only skim the surface of whats really going on or they cant see beyond whats on the exterior going back to the "red tinted glasses", its keeping them seeing one way.

For example when i was younger i could not see why my parents would scold me and give me presents because my eyes were tinted and seeing from one perspective but now i can see why they do it and what motivates them to do things for me. I think slowly in life people's eyes get "untinted" but at different times and weather they chose to except it or not.
